Description

And here you see the cutie pies of DRK visiting Lot A and houses 19 & 20 for the Wiltshire-Spaniel Trick-or-Treat Extravaganza!
It took a few days to get this done, but since the stories basically connected I figured I'd make it one submission instead of three ^^
(and yes, I accidentally skipped Leo's costume... Let's say they took it off so it didn't get dirty? That or I'll edit it on later/tomorrow lol)

The Beginning + Leo - (380 words) - Lot A

The stars had only just come out, but if you listened closely, you could already hear the whining of the younger dogs waiting inside the office. They were anxious to go, and it was almost as if they were nagging the humans to hurry up. This was Desert Rose's first time participating in a Trick-or-Treat event, and everyone was finishing up their costumes. Chili was dressed as a mummy, Leo was dressed as a skeleton, and Jack now carried a "headless horseman" on his back. Sera had chosen to stay at home to pass out treats of her own with Delilah, a bit fearful of the bustling streets and the tricks being given our. Of course the crew would save her and the others a few treats, it was only fair. Erik and Annie would be chaperoning the pups along with a 'Chef' named Charles, and were dressed as Thing 1 & 2 respectively. Truth be told, the adults were just as excited as the kids, they just knew how to hold in the excitement rather than bouncing off the walls.

Finally, when everyone was ready, the crew headed out. It was quite the sight to see, the five mis-matched dogs and their three handlers (a bumblebee, a pirate, and the chaperoning chef). The only costume coordination was Erik and Annie, and that was only because they were siblings and the costumes were simple and comfortable. The group started their journey, going to a few doors that had decorations up. Only a few of the houses had their lights off, those they avoided for fear of tricks and grumpy old men. While they were in the area, they decided to head to the dog park to search for prizes. The pirate had heard from that there were hidden treats at the park, and who better to find them than said boy and dogs? The walk didn't take long, and the group arrived at the park within a few minutes. Leo walked around with the pirate, searching under the ramps, by the tunnels, and everywhere else they could think of. They only stayed for a short period, but they agreed to come back later if they had time before they headed home. After all, the night was still young.

Jack - (354 words) - House 19

As they walked further into the neighborhood, they saw many houses with all kinds of decorations. It was only natural that the youngest of the group got a bit anxious. They were still pups, and had never seen such an array of spooky creatures walking around. Their fear slowly faded as they walked around with each other, the children greeting friends and happily sneaking pieces of candy from their bags. Up ahead they saw a green house, decorated with a few pumpkins and black cat figures. Jack pulled on his leash gently indicating he'd like to visit this one. He hadn't visited any of the other houses because they had looked too scary, but this one he could manage.

The pair walked up to the door quickly, Jack barking loudly as his kid knocked on the door. An elderly man greeted them with a gentle smile, mentioning how cute the horseman & the pirate's costumes were and giving Jack a pat on the head. He reached to the bowl of candy beside him and added four or five pieces of candy to the boy's bucket. Then, he grabbed a bag of dog treats from off the table and offered a few to Jack. Jack was glad that everyone in the neighborhood was prepared for the pups running about, and gladly accepted the gift, wolfing a thank you back to the man. The boy and the man exchanged a few more words about the decorations and the pirate's costume before they parted ways.

Jack practically pranced back to the group, boasting about his treats proudly. The dogs chatted back and forth as only dogs do, while the pirate displayed his loot to his friends, sneaking a bite of the kitkat he'd recieved. Jack walked excitedly with the group to the rest of the houses, now more eager for treats than scared of the decorations. Halloween festivities seemed to be best celebrated in groups. It definitely helped the pups feel safe and the excitement from Jack spread through the group one by one. Soon, everyone was racing around knocking on houses and doing tricks for treats.

Chili - (356 words) - House 20

Chili bravely decided she would go next as they came to a house decked out in decorations. You could tell that whoever decorated had put a lot of time and effort into the house, and it looked elegany in a gothic fashion. From skeletons laying half buried in the grass, to spider webs in the trees and on the porch, the house seemed to have every kind of decoration ever made strung about. Chili grinned and her handler made sure the bandages were all in place before they raced up through the gate of the pretty purple house. The bell was rung, and a bright "Trick or Treat!" was shouted by the bumblebee next to her as the door opened. Chili raised her front paws and gave the sweetest look she could manage, begging for treats. Trick or Treat she echoed as she let out a string of quiet howls in greeting.

The small girl who opened the door let out a squeak at the sight of the adorable Wiltshire Spaniel posing for candy. She asked if she could pet the dog, and after affirmation from the bumblebee holding her leash, all but pounced on the pup, petting her back and head where they weren't covered in cloth. "You're so adorable! I wish I had a puppy as cute as you" She told Chili, grinning as the pup talked back to her cutely. She complimented the bumblebee's costume as well, giving her a handful of candy as big as her small hands could carry, then holding up a finger to signal the pair to wait by the door while she disappeared back into the house. "Mom! Where did you put the puppy treats?!" you could hear the girl call in the background. There was more shouting, and some shuffling was heard before the child reappeared with a small bag of treats tied off with a pink ribbon. "Pink for the girls! Enjoy the treats, and happy Halloween!" she told the two, handing the treats for Chili to the bumblebee. "Thank you" the bee replied before the door closed, walking with Chili back to the group triumphantly.
